BLS courses train a variety of healthcare providers but focus on attempting to reverse pulseless arrest (death). ACLS and PALS algorithms prevent deterioration of alive patients, but most dentists either cannot perform or lack equipment/credentialed staff to perform the interventions. Further, most prefabricated “dental emergency kits” contain expensive drugs/supplies unfamiliar to dentists. To address these issues, the speaker (an AHA instructor) teaches modified workflows within the audience’s skillset. In addition to explanation and discussion, attendees will receive handouts with office supply lists and EM algorithm cards germane to dental settings.Learning Objectives :
• Be able to quickly and accurately obtain vital signs using cost-effective basic equipment.
• Create office emergency kits that all clinical staff can use to manage both common and uncommon emergent events.
• Review the relevant pathophysiology of emergency scenarios to aid in understanding solutions and interventions.
• Establish standardized roles and responsibilities for both doctors and auxiliaries that enable effective team function during stressful situations.
• Implement management options for both standard dental providers as well as those with more advanced monitoring and venipuncture skills
This course meets the Ohio State Dental Board’s criteria for dental hygienists and general supervision.

Have you ever wondered why, after prepping a second molar for a crown, the occlusal of the prep is in contact with the opposing tooth? Every time we alter the chewing surface of a tooth; we impact the entire stomatognathic system. Often the patient adapts to these changes. But when they don’t it can jeopardize the restoration, the other teeth, and can cost us the patient’s trust, not to mention our time. In this session we will explore the challenges of occlusion we face every day in a restorative practice and look at how we can utilize this information to make our dentistry more predictable and help our patients stay healthy and comfortable. This program will provide hands-on experience with many of the topics discussed.Learning Objectives :
• Comprehensive functional exam.

The dental industry has undergone significant changes in recent years, yet dental insurance continues to pose challenges for offices and patients. Many dentists are underpaid for their services, and patients struggle to receive the quality care they deserve. As more practices explore ways to reduce their reliance on insurance, an important question arises: Can they afford to make the shift? And what alternative models can support long-term success? In today’s subscription-driven economy, consumers increasingly prefer predictable, membership-based services, and dental practices can leverage this trend by implementing in-office membership plans. This model not only boosts patient retention and case acceptance but also attracts new cash-paying patients while offering insured patients a valuable alternative. Membership plans are no longer just the second option. They’re becoming essential for sustainable practice growth. To stay competitive, practices must be willing to adapt to changing industry trends.Learning Objectives :
• Optimize marketing strategies and budgets through implementing a winning membership plan model.
• Understand the key do's and don'ts for long-term success with membership plans.
• Create strategies for effectively designing, launching, and growing your plan

Periodontal and implant patients pose different challenges to the dental team, complicating ways to restore and maintain health, function, and esthetics. As their treatment evolves from single tooth replacement to full-arch rehabilitation, each surgical procedure should include a personalized homecare and maintenance regimen. With more materials and techniques available today, it is increasingly difficult to discern what is most appropriate for each patient. Salivary testing, antibiotic therapy, mouth rinses , and laser therapy may benefit some forms of periodontal and implant therapy but is less effective for others. However, guided biofilm therapy provides a universally better way to preserve teeth and implant restorations with patient-friendly materials and precision technology. This is especially true in cases of periodontal breakdown, where gingival recession, a lack of keratinized mucosa, and/or exposed implant threads make maintenance more challenging. This course will showcase a variety of periodontal and implant surgical workflows, highlighting the importance of maintenance and homecare routines in improving the patient experience and long-term results.Learning Objectives :
• Understand and execute different periodontal and implant surgical procedures.
• Choose the most appropriate materials and techniques for prophylactic, non-surgical, and maintenance interventions.
• Identify patient-specific, site-specific, and environmental risk factors that impact the success of periodontal and implant therapy.
• Design tailored homecare programs that optimize long-term health and prevent disease onset or progression.

Management of acute odontogenic pain is accomplished through a clinical approach that successfully incorporates intraoperative local anesthesia and a postoperative regimen of non-opioid and opioid analgesics. However, improper and inappropriate use of both local anesthetic agents and analgesics have the potential to produce adverse outcomes for our patients. Thus, it is critical for clinicians to accurately evaluate the need for pain control, identify associated risks, and assess the efficacy of the agents to be administered. This program will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmacology and therapeutics of local anesthetic agents and analgesics. Special emphasis will be given to effective perioperative pain management and best practices for prescribing analgesics for postoperative pain control.Learning Objectives :
• Understand the pharmacology and mechanism of action of opioid and non-opioid analgesics, as well as their potential for abuse.
• Identify the intended roles of these analgesics in the treatment of acute dental pain, as well as situations which may preclude their use.
• Discuss best practices for prescribing opioid analgesics as part of an individualized patient pain management plan
This program meets the training requirement for Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registrants when combined with five hours of education from courses with similar content provided by the ODA or other DEA-approved training organizations.

When faced with fractured or broken-down teeth or dentition, often the choices are limited to crowns or extraction and replacement with implants, fixed bridges or removable partial dentures. Limited finances, changes in Ohio Medicaid reimbursement, an aging population and the improvement of direct esthetic bonded composite expand treatment options. During this course, you will learn how to do routine Class 2 posterior composites, direct composite veneers, post and cores with the core serving as a direct interim crown, direct bonded bridges, and salvaging severely fractured teeth with composite. Complex onlays can often replace crowns when a patient fractures one or more cusps. These techniques will help you solve challenges which you will encounter on a daily basis in your clinical practice. Clinical cases will demonstrate the versatility of well-done composite restorations, giving the esthetics and durability of porcelain with the advantage of simple repair and lower cost.Learning Objectives
• Understand how to save fractured teeth with composite.
• Discover how to solve challenges for patients impacted by limited finances or an aging population.
• Determine how improvements of direct esthetic bonded composite expand treatment options in your practice.

This lecture provides a comprehensive overview of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and the evolving role of surgical interventions in their management. Drawing upon extensive clinical experience at Case Western Reserve University and Visage Surgical Institute, Dr. Quereshy outlines the diagnostic criteria, surgical indications, and treatment algorithms for patients with chronic TMJ pain, internal derangement, and joint pathology. Emphasis is placed on differentiating intracapsular from extraarticular disorders and on understanding joint growth disturbances, particularly in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) cases. The session explores a spectrum of TMJ surgical options—from minimally invasive arthroscopy (including lysis, lavage, and coblation techniques) to total joint reconstruction using autogenous rib grafts and alloplastic implants. Special attention is given to surgical planning with augmented reality and the clinical decision-making process in growing versus skeletally mature patients. Case-based discussions highlight the use of both custom and stock TMJ prostheses, evaluating their respective outcomes, revision rates, and long-term functionality. This lecture equips oral and maxillofacial surgeons with evidence-based strategies and clinical pearls for the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of complex TMJ pathology.Learning Objectives :
• Recognize clinical and imaging findings indicative of TMJ internal derangement and joint degeneration.
• Differentiate between conservative and surgical treatment approaches based on patient age, disease severity, and joint pathology.
• Evaluate the indications, techniques, and outcomes of TMJ arthroscopy and total joint replacement (TJR).
• Assess the benefits and limitations of custom versus stock TMJ prostheses using recent clinical data and case studies
