Board trustees are asked to serve by example in their financial support of the ODA Foundation through involvement in foundation fundraising campaigns or events. Trustees serve a four-year term and can serve three consecutive terms on the Board. The Board meets four times a year.

Criteria to serve on the ODA Foundation Board of Trustees
A willingness to volunteer and help the ODA Foundation continue to grow and help fund dental causes in Ohio is the primary criterion. The ODA also requires that a trustee be an active, life or retired member in good standing of the ODA and an active, life or retired member of one of the constituent societies of the trustee district that the trustee is elected to represent.
The ODA Foundation recommends that Board of Trustee candidates have served as one or more of the following:
- as a component dental society officer,
- as an ODA elected or appointed officer,
- as an ODA delegate or alternate,
- as an ADA delegate or alternate,
- on an ODA council, sub-council, committee, reference committee or task force.
