Let’s celebrate the ability to get together and meet up at ODA Annual Session!

As I write this, we have just gotten word that dental offices can reopen. We are all learning about what the “new normal” will look like for our practices. We had been closed for over a month. Besides nearly constant emails, texts, calls and conference calls, I have done lots of laundry, cleaning and cooking. My dog, Bear, is thrilled and my cat, Daisy looks at me like “Ugh, are you still here?” I was so desperate I even cut my own hair and have decided that my stylist is worth every penny! It certainly does make us appreciate some things that we have taken for granted.

I have missed my practice, my patients and my work family. And I have worried daily about all three. We all wonder about how we can afford this furlough, EIDL, PPP, etc. As with all things in life, I have had to believe that there would be a return to our lives. They look a bit different than they did before but we as humans are quite adaptable. In fact, we may find that our values have shifted slightly. I am acutely aware of how much relationships mean to me. I hope that I never again take them for granted.

I am so fortunate to have the team I have at the ODA. The staff has been working tirelessly from home during this crisis. As of now, the ODA Annual Session is scheduled to go on as normal. I can hardly wait. A lot of the things that I was excited about my presidential year have been canceled. So these will be my final days as president during Annual Session and I can’t wait to share them with you! There are the things that we always counted on, like great CE (I am biased, but we have a really wonderful line-up including some of my friends) and the Exhibit Hall, where you can check out the latest for your offices. There are new things, like a very inspiring keynote speaker for you and your team. I am anxious to celebrate at the Callahan Awards with a great dinner and band.

So let’s celebrate the ability to get together and meet up at Annual Session. See you there!
