‘BEST OF THE BEST’ SPEAKERS, VENDORS TO BE AT 2025 ODA ANNUAL SESSION

More than 150 companies are expected to be on-site at the ODA Annual Session Exhibit Hall. The 2025 ODA Annual Session is Sept. 25-27.

The 2025 ODA Annual Session is Sept. 25-27 in Columbus at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and the Hilton Columbus Downtown Hotel.

“In person, it’s hard to beat that,” said Dr. Kyle Jackson, 2025 ODA Annual Session general chairman. “It’s great to be able to see dentists that you haven’t seen for a little bit and we all come here to the ODA, see your colleagues from the past and present and it’s just a great time of camaraderie as well as great CE. We scout speakers from all over and we bring some of the best of the best here to Ohio and you don’t have to travel very far. I think everyone would really enjoy it.”

Annual Session will offer 52 CE courses to choose from, with options for dentists, specialists and all team members.

“I’m very excited about this year’s program,” Jackson said. “We have something for everyone at our Annual Session 2025. As a pediatric dentist, I am especially excited about Dr. Moursi coming and presenting classes on pediatric dentistry for the general practitioner. This year we are pleased to have a CE luncheon with Dr. Moursi for our Ohio Academy of Pediatric Dentistry members. Also, we will have Minal Sampat presenting a pediatric dental marketing course. I should also mention our course ‘The Efficient Management of Medicaid Patients,’ where we will discuss how to efficiently and effectively treat Medicaid patients in a private practice setting, share any updates on Medicaid and have a panel discussion with the dental directors of our Medicaid HMOs.”

Courses aimed at dentists include topics like restorative, Botox, occlusion, hands-on workshops and a strong selection of specialty courses aimed at general dentists such as endodontics and pediatrics. ODA Annual Session will also feature programming to assist dentists in securing the education necessary to satisfy the DEA mandate, which requires DEA-registered practitioners to complete 8 hours of training on treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

Annual Session also features strong workshops and courses for hygienists, with topics including fluoride and patient communications. The popular Preventive Products Roundtable Breakfast for hygienists will also be back this year. Additionally, online courses will feature the hard-to-find educational courses required for hygienists to participate in the Oral Health Access Supervision Program (OHASP).

Annual Session will also feature several courses for dental assistants, including Radiography Review and Dental Assisting Test Preparation, and several courses for front desk staff, including CDT coding and medical billing.

“Something new this year will be a course designed to prepare assistants to take the DANB exam,” Jackson said. “With the workforce issues we continue to face, this prep course is one more way to help get dental assistants certified in an effort to enable them to get further certifications like coronal polishing and nitrous monitoring.”

Other popular courses for the entire dental team include team building, wellness, medical emergencies in the dental office and healthcare-provider CPR.

“Another important course will be Dr. Matt Messina and Denise Messina’s course on fluoride,” Jackson said. “With Ohio being yet another state that has legislation proposing a ban on community water fluoridation, it is important to continue to equip and educate our dental staff regarding the benefits of water fluoridation and how to share that with patients.”

This year, the Pankey Institute will be presenting a two-day workshop at ODA Annual Session for dentists. “Occlusion in Everyday Dentistry: A Two-Day Pankey Workshop” will be presented by Dr. Lee Ann Brady and Dr. Gary DeWood on Thursday, Sept. 25 and Friday, Sept. 26. The course will explore the challenges of occlusion that dentists face every day in a restorative practice and look at how to utilize this information to make dentistry more predictable and help patients stay healthy and comfortable and will provide hands-on experience.

ODA Annual Session will be the last stop for Judy Kay Mausolf on her farewell tour before she retires. She will present two team building courses on Friday, Sept. 26. The first will be about best practices that help the entire team think differently, communicate more effectively, work together better, and make healthy decisions, and the second course will be about building the skills needed to communicate positively and effectively with different personalities.

On Friday, Sept. 26 Dr. Grace Yum, founder and CEO of Mommy Dentists in Business (MDIB), will be presenting a course on work-life balance designed to help moms be successful in their careers and in their lives more broadly. She will also be hosting a luncheon and networking opportunity focusing on the life of a working mother in dentistry.

In addition to in-person courses, dentists and staff will have access to up to 14 hours of online CE, free with the cost of registration.

The ODA Annual Session will also feature an expansive Exhibit Hall. More than 150 companies are expected to be on-site at the ODA Annual Session Exhibit Hall.

“Definitely come to see the exhibits,” Jackson said. “We try to get as many vendors as we can, covering all facets of things that as a dentist you would need in your practice. It’s great for your staff as well. We want the exhibit floor to be relevant and something that’s effective for people when they spend their time coming to it. We want to check out innovations and see what’s going on. And of course it’s always great to see friends.”
