Leadership InstituteThe 2024 ODA Leadership Institute is scheduled for March 22-23 at the Hilton Columbus Polaris Hotel. The event will feature keynote presentations, roundtable discussions, breakout sessions and opportunities for camaraderie and fellowship.

Leadership Institute is the ODA’s award-winning program developed to help all ODA members become more successful and effective leaders for their practice, for their community and for their profession. Attendees consistently rank the event as one of the top leadership development workshops.

This event is free for ODA member dentists, dental residents and dental students as a benefit of membership, and includes the opportunity to earn up to four free CE credits.

The event will kick off on Friday, March 22 with a keynote presentation “Achieving Professional and Financial Success in Dentistry” presented by Brandon Collier. Collier’s keynote presentation will focus on strategies to enhance dentists’ ability to achieve their potential both professionally and personally.

In the afternoon, attendees will be able to choose two of the following breakout sessions:

  • “To DSO or Not to DSO” presented by Collier. He will draw upon his more than two decades of representing dentists as a lawyer and practice management consultant in discussing the pros and cons of affiliating with dental service organizations.
  • “Update on Legal and Regulatory Risk Management in the Dental Office” presented by ODA Director of Legal and Legislative Services Eric Richmond, Esq. and ODA Executive Director David Owsiany, J.D. This panel, which has more than 30 combined years working at the ODA on dental risk management issues, will discuss today’s most pressing legal and regulatory issues facing Ohio dentists and share strategies for compliance.
  • “Incorporating Medicaid Patients into Your Dental Practice” presented by Dr. Jacinto Beard, national dental director for Molina Healthcare Inc. and a general dentist and Medicaid provider in Columbus; Dr. Jane Grover, senior director of the Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention within the Center for Public and Population Health of the American Dental Association; and ODA Director of Dental Services Chris Moore; and moderated by Dr. Mark Bronson, a past president of the ODA and past vice president of the ADA and a general dentist and Medicaid provider in Cincinnati. This panel of Medicaid experts will provide tips and strategies for adding Medicaid patients into your patient base in an efficient and effective manner.

Following the breakout sessions, a panel of election experts will present a “2024 General Election Preview,” and the ODA lobbying team will present an “Update on Dental Legislation at the Ohio Statehouse.”

Friday will conclude with a reception hosted by Superior Dental Care.
