A Message from ODA President Dr. Sharon Parsons about reopening

Well, it is April 29. I found out about our offices being able to open, along with the rest of you, on Monday. As it is slowly sinking in I find my head swimming. How am I going to acquire all of the PPE I need? What changes, if any, do I need to make in my office? Do I open all at once or do I do it in stages? These decisions and more will need to be made.
As I am writing this, I am sitting in my office with my associate, Michael (my son) and my office manager. For me, personally, I do not yet have all the PPE that we will need, even though we are doing our best to find it. As you all do the same, remember to be cautious. There is a lot of gray and black market PPE out there right now, so be sure to acquire it from a reliable source. Realistically, my office may not open until May 11. We will be doing a Zoom meeting today with the entire staff to talk over everything and try to make some decisions.
I guess what I am trying to say to all of you is this: Every office will open when they are ready. As small businesses, we are unique and there is no magic bullet. We all need to follow the ADA/CDC guidelines and proceed accordingly. To help you with this, the ODA will be conducting two webinars on Thursday, April 30 for our members (watch your inbox for more details on these).
This unprecedented time has been both trying and fluid. We are just entering the next phase. As things change rapidly, we will keep you informed. Please continue to be the diligent, careful and the caring dentists that we know you to be. As I have said often, we are in this together and will get through it.
Sincerely,
Sharon K. Parsons, DDS
