Patient Disclosures
Dental offices that are covered by HIPAA must update, by February 16, 2026, their HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) to address the use and disclosure of PHI received from a Part 2 substance abuse disorder treatment program.
The American Dental Association has created several resources to help dentists comply:

Dental care providers who choose not to accept as payment an amount set by a dental insurance company for dental care services that are not covered dental services are required to post special disclosure language in their office.
